There's a good movie here that I enjoyed a lot despite some of the worst cinematography I have ever come across.

It's a real shame as the film elevates itself from it's short film root and fleshes out quite naturally into a feature story. There are some great moments in here and the actors do a great and convincing job throughout.

This hard work is marred though by a camera that is almost always violently shaking and is perennially stuck…

    Just kinda grim and uninteresting.

Is this a guilty pleasure when it slaps so hard?
This film has a bit of everything I like, historical setting, mysterious monster plaguing a place, cults, fighting, killer outfits, a dude trying to prove that a supernatural thing is in fact very NOT supernatural. This is all wrapped up in a schlocky OTT filmmaking style that feels like a million music videos blended together.

I mean come on. What's not to love?

I think if the aesthetics of Bloodborne are your absolute jam then you will fucking love this movie.

This movie manages to be the epitome of everything I dislike about modern fan culture. Pure content slop liberally sprinkled with a slew of unfunny meta references and nods to a million other things. The movie basically looks directly at the camera, shit smeared on its open upturned hands, grinning at you with a look of "oh aren't I such a clever chap?" How clever it is to acknowledge how turgid all the Marvel cinematic universe ideas are. How insightful…
