I kept whispering to myself throughout the movie, ‘animals could never steer a boat’. But then, I realized my jaded naysaying was getting in the way of the splendor. Of the tenderness. Of the transcendent work of art that is this movie and the characters within. After my profound humbling, I enjoyed it… Until the end, when they come across the beached whale. If they're smart enough to steer a boat surely they could make a rig to yeet the whale into the water? Lazy. 1/2 star deduction.
