Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat 2024
I have never had a more…dare i say…electrifyingly fun time engaging with African/Congolese decolonization, afro-asian solidarity, and CIA atrocities!!
But, for the record, this is NOT a good entry point into these conversations. Having prior knowledge about the third world / decolonization during the mid-20th century helped me keep up with the frenetic, jazz-like pace.

Three of Us 2022
A stunning, quiet story about a woman in the early stages of dementia who travels to her childhood to find parts of herself she is losing. Shefali Shah was AMAZING. I was also sincerely moved by this movies portrayal of a gentle south asian masculinity and deep south asian intimacy, both of which exist, but are infrequently shown on screen. I know this is going to be a top rated movie for me this year.
