Absolutely riveting watch. You can tell from the start that everything will be connected somehow but it still eludes understanding until the last phase of the movie. I loved watching all the pieces click together. Guy Pierce was fantastic in his role as Exley.
This movie would be nothing without Sunny Pawar. To think that a young kid (from a Mumbai slum!) could act so phenomenally on an international stage is mind-blowing. Dev Patel continues to bear the torch in the latter half of the film and keeps the momentum going. As tragic as Saroo’s story is, it cements the harsh reality of India’s impoverished class in a far more authentic manner than a fictitious story like Slumdog Millionaire. My only critique is that Lucy’s involvement in the plot felt a tad forced and unnecessary.
