This film had me saying “what the hell” every three seconds. What a surreal and crazy film that somehow made all the weird stuff happen in it seem almost normal. Dennis Hopper smearing lipstick all over Kyle MacLachlan’s face? Yeah, checks out. The film also does such a great job at showing the split between an idyllic suburbia confronted with a cruel and meaningless world—you can practically taste the tone shift. No Country for Old Men 2007
I love how this movie doesn’t feel the need to have a climatic ending. Once it conveys its themes, it takes a step back and lets the movie end.
