A poetic melancholic dreamy film that gives you a slight glimmer of hope but bittersweet.
The main character failed attempted suicides reminded me of Harold and Maude.
Throughout the film, I can relate so much in their language barrier. When I was in Thailand, I experienced the same conversations with the locals and I thought that wasn't a coincidence.
There is no other movie that captures realistically how one feels and experience when traveling alone in a foreign country lost and scared with no connections or anybody to help them.
It's genius that there is no sound editing here and all the noises you hear is raw which makes it more true to life experience and the shakiness of the camera captures perfectly our point of view of the actress getting lost and hopeless finding her partner and being…

Sorry this film and humor is not for me.
I don't understand why everyone love this movie and not find it hilarious and cringe. Most of all why did their performance won an Oscar and Golden Globe?
It feels watching a children's film not Oscar worthy but I guess Hollywood is just pushing this diversity and multicultural theme since Parasite.
Rewriting his past, till it became unreadable.
This film is a masterpiece in my opinion. Satoshi suits the detective role perfectly well. The plot is very intriguing. Cinematography is mesmerizing and the ending is excellent! It reminded me of the anime Monster where the detective is searching to find the identity and existence of someone.
The movie received numerous accolades in the Japanese Academy and international awards. Satoshi, Sakura and Masataka's acting are superb!
Saw a review, "if you didn't fell in love with Sakura Ando's in the first few seconds then you don't have a heart." I agree to that
