  so glad i got to see this on the big screen; i had the time of my life. an absolute visual treat. the characters have so many ends to bite into, the concepts were awe-some capital a & the mother-son dynamic here was for me, i think. my goodness. jessica atreides my goat... giddying film.

  the absolute delight that are the characters & the implications had me incredibly giddy during the first act only for the third act to be surprisingly uninspired & lazy. this could've been so much better than it was, i'm despondent. marshall should have stayed a side character. it's a real shame when the movie is this deliciously fucked up about its premise & its use of tone only to turn into something quite tired and predictable and cop-out heavy near the end. where the hell did the mess i wanted to bite into disappear to? heart just for the sheer euphoria it gave me pre-intermission.

  wide, beautiful shots & the solemn suspenseful reverence screen a lot better when you take it as deliberate contrast to the petty politic of the actual happening. unfortunately didn't hold water with the last act of the film, & the plot "twist" just didn't work for me. nevertheless, an immensely enjoyable watch for the most part. ralph fiennes's acting is a delight. wish desperately that it let itself be sillier: would have conjured up more actual Meaning.
