  Masayuki Suo’s 1996 ‘Shall we Dance’ considers that for Japanese couples to embrace in public is improper, so that the intimacy of ballroom dancing boarders on scandalous, especially when partnered with someone other than your spouse.   If you must see this... get it out on DVD. When the critics shunned it I assumed it was on a musically intellectual wavelength that they didn’t understand. But you don’t need musical knowledge to notice it’s pretty average.

  Here's to better films Mr Hoffman.

  Really loved this. Side note: only film Anne Hathaway's been in that she didn't annoy me. They didn't even overdo the arse shots, as one normally expects in leather-clad superhero films.

Following
