"The Thin Red Line" interposes a quite realistic depiction of aspects of the Guadalcanal invasion, replete with all the horrors of war, with the vivid dream-like flashback sequences of a number of US Army soldiers in an infantry company, as well as with the beauty of nature. The cinematography by John Toll (directed by Terrence Malik) is undeniably outstanding and the setting is absolutely authentic and often breathtakingly gorgeous, since the locations for filming were on Guadalcanal, the Solomon Islands,…

I watched this a few days ago, and I'm glad that I did. Not the best movie I've ever watched by far, but I enjoyed it overall and learned a lot from it. If you enjoy history in general and would like to learn more about the English Civil War in the 1640's-50's, this is a decent flick to watch.

    Pros:
    - Masterful acting by Richard Harris starring as Oliver Cromwell and Alec Guiness (who played Obi-Wan Kenobi 7 years…

Back in the good ol’ days B.S.P. A very enjoyable take on the classical mythology tale of Perseus, with some really cool and nostalgic stop-motion special effects sorcery from the master, Ray Harryhausen, who did Jason and the Argonauts and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad back in the late 50's and early 60's. The mechanical owl, Bubo, is my fave with its memorable and endearing antics and vocalizations. Other than that, I won't give any spoilers - give it a try!
