bridget jones is an iconic character and this film still has some of the magic and humor from the prior films.
hugh grant is best in show. emma thompson is in a very minor role, but flawless as always.
the vibe is a little more bittersweet though - bridge is a single mom still grieving her husband - and i found myself missing the lower stakes frivolity that made the prior films work so well. it also takes time away…

the tone on this one…what a ride…
first half: whee crete is fun, this is an OG buddy comedy
second half, mostly: crete blows and is inhabited by thieves and murderers
last ten mins: lol concluding hijinks and greek dancing!!!
maybe it works in the book, idk. the film started out a fun hang with two charismatic leads…until we started stoning women. literally wtf.
so, i wish it had picked a lane…the fun lane. and stuck w that.
