Triangle of Sadness 2022
I was hoping to like this movie more than I did. The movie starts out as an interesting look into the lives of two burgeoning models and their relationship, with some really fun shots that create tension and intimacy. A great conversation on gender roles to kick it off but then the film takes a hard turn. I found the first and third act to be interesting and enjoyable. But the middle of the movie felt more self-indulgent than necessary.…

The Whale 2022
Brendan Fraser carries this movie. This is not Aronovsky’s best work but it’s a decent movie with overall good performances. It’s an emotional journey that isn’t easy to watch and at times feels a little long. The ending is beautiful. And I wish we had a few more visual moments with that same beauty. However, the real beauty is in the emotional depth and life that Fraser creates in his character.
