The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

    ★★★★

While watching this movie today in theaters, I was trying to decide if the Looney Tunes style had changed or if I had as a now 50 year old,   The animation style is beautiful and the tunes are definitely looney, but I think I probably missed a ton of jokes and references - I’m not used to watching Porky and Daffy that much since I was a kid.

I thought I might be overthinking things except on walking out…

    Moana 2

    ★★★

I liked some of the songs and didn’t think any of them were as bad as I was led to believe (or as bad as Wicked).

The number of characters should have been trimmed down as some of them didn’t contribute that much to the film, I think the conflict Moana had with her tribe in the first one helped flesh out the film but…in this one, the conflict with anyone was really bland to nonexistent til the mid credit…

The subject matter may be a little more dated than In the Heat of the Night from the same year but it really is a showcase of unbelievably awesome acting.  Sidney Poitier gets a couple of great scenes to showcase his acting but people never seem to talk about how wonderful the actors are who play his parents.  I know the actress who played his mother was also in In the Heat of the Night but I don’t think I have seen her anywhere else.  Would love to see more movies with her.

Freeway II: Confessions of a Trickbaby

Honestly, I could have done without the bulimia/eating disorder subplot as gross bodily fluid expulsion is not a fetish I enjoy. There's much much to dislike in the first part of the movie, but things are a bit more interesting in Tijuana. Sadly, it's too little too late and it's just so hard getting there.

Really, the biggest problem with the film in my opinion is whether it is a serious thriller/horror film or a farce. I'm leaning towards it…
