Dreaming on Desolation Island 2000
There is something oddly disconcerting about the moment where a tragedy happens and the journalist who is narrating his own neo-imperialist “great white hunt” refuses to report on the incident because he has become one of the boys and doesn’t want to ruffle feathers. Equally uncomfortable is how the guilty party in the accidental tragedy, after three days of being ostracized by the group, wins his way back with a bottle of bubbly.
The most darkly satirical (definitely not purposefully) and quintessentially British thing I’ve watched in a while.
