  I appreciated the symbolism in this movie and the deeper themes it was commenting on, like Chinese expectations for family, mother-daughter trauma, and the anxiety associated with all the alternate versions of our lives that we will never live. The bizarre nature of the movie made it very comedic, but at times certain strange elements took away from the plot, at least for me.
