I watched this movie at least 5 times in the past week. Great film, beautifully shot and duras writing is true poetry. Still, I have problems with existentialism as a response to the holocaust and felt like although this film was progressive in many ways, it reinforced orientalist views of Japans relationship with Europe/ France.
