  Was not expecting the intense emotional wave to hit me quite so hard at the end, though we all know Spielberg is awesome at that.

  Having not seen this since its original run in theaters, my clearest memories were:

  - Normandy Beach scene
  - Tragically frozen Oppam
  - MattDamonAging.gif
  - 18 year old Mickey, deep in his most Conservative phase, being filled with patriotism at the end

  Today:

  - Fists anxiously clenched during the entire final battle
  - Great fade…

  This sure is a movie!

  Having just seen Wild at Heart recently, this feels somehow sprung from the same well of creativity. Strange and wholly the singular vision of Coppola.

  The performances and script are also strangely stilted, almost like The Lobster or Killing of a Sacred Deer. Maybe it’s part of the point? 🤷‍♂️

  I saw this as part of the IMAX early previews. The Coppola/De Niro/Spike Lee q&a was pretty boring, but definitely indicated where Adam Driver’s long monologues about humanity and creativity come from.
