I love me a good disaster movie.
I’m not sure why I was expecting this to be cheesy and bad. It’s definitely got some cheese, but it’s also got well-rounded characters, genuine emotion and some really great action and suspense.
It’s far better than that remake with Fergie, that’s for shit sure.
This is good! Smart, propulsive and really well-made thriller with a particularly great ending.
I’m feeling kind of mixed on this one. I liked a lot of the buildup. The early scenes are eerie and atmospheric. It’s well shot and the score by Will Bates is great. But somewhere around the midpoint it just gets silly. Sometimes the silliness is kind of fun, but the movie makes a lot of choices — both narratively and tonally — that felt jarring and didn’t fully work for me.
That FINAL scene, however, is a doozy. Sydney Sweeney ate that up.
