Mark of The Beast: The Legacy of the Universal Werewolf 2019
If you want to hear a bunch of dudes talk about the history of werewolf movies, then this is the documentary for you. It’s reasonably comprehensive, and most of the guys interviewed are pretty engaging. I’ve heard some of these guys (Landis and Dante especially) talk about this stuff before, and I still learned lots.

I’ve been wanting to watch this for as long as I can remember. I don’t know why it took me so long, but I’m glad I finally checked it out. It’s an instant favourite. I just had a ridiculously good time watching this, I’ve got no criticisms. In a nearly perfect movie, Rick Baker’s special effects are especially perfect.

Story and characters are quite weak, so if that’s what you’re looking for, maybe look elsewhere. Cinematography, set design and tone are just about flawless. It’s intense and funny and creepy and disturbing. If you’re into slow burn horror like The Shining, Rosemary’s Baby or The Excorcist then you gotta check this out.

Re-watch in memory of Jonathan Demme with the Criterion commentary on. The movie is basically flawless and one of the greatest thrillers of all time. The commentary was super insightful.
