This should’ve just committed itself to being a full on dramedy exploring as Napoleon as a pathetic man behind closed doors but then a strong capable leader on the battlefield. At some points it felt reminiscent of The Favorite and these were the strongest points of the film. When there was such a dynamic as mentioned, Joaquin Phoenix was hilarious and worked well as so deadpan, when this dramedy was missing however it came off as such a bland performance.…

One of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. Such amazing cinematography, choreography, set design and editing. This had such a beautiful dreamy quality to it and the colors were beautiful. I was so ecstatic watching this, especially during the long zoom out shot from Priscilla looking out the window😩. I love how the score went from seemingly period-neutral to more modern in its sounds whilst being a period film, I loved that choice and the score was great.…
