When I type it out it sounds like the best movie ever. But damn this was so dumb.
The problem with this movie is that it didn’t feel like All Quiet on the Western Front at all. They could have changed the names of the characters and I probably wouldn’t have known what it was adapted from. It’s all combat, and barely any dialogue, which is so much of what makes the book heart wrenching: knowing what these characters have to lose, and knowing who they are as people.
