it's gripping and has a great atmosphere, and the main character is fascinating in his ambiguity. The brutality fit the whole thing and gave the story a stronger resonance. Great aesthetics, good music and an apt satire on society.

Kubrick shows that human stupidity and power are a more dangerous combination than nuclear weapons.
Black comedy about the absurdity of Cold War paranoia and the threat of nuclear annihilation. Brilliant humor and grotesque show how one crazy order leads the world to the brink of catastrophe, and the incompetence of those in power only worsens the situation. Full of satire and great dialogue, the film is entertaining, but at the same time terrifying in its realism.

The film is ultimately too average and overrated. The film's acclaim seems to be more about the mood of critics and the need to celebrate "modest cinema" than the actual quality of the story itself. If you're looking for something more intense, emotionally engaging, or just less irritating - this film will probably disappoint you.
