The Warriors 1979
The Warriors is a great example of the simple story well told. The brisk pace doesn’t stop for backstory or spectacle, it just propels forward on a simple objective - get back to home turf. This kind of film doesn’t need award-caliber performances, but the cast here does fine and their characters have enough charisma to get by. Not to say The Warriors doesn’t have style - in fact it’s the small touches in costuming, staging and plotting that make the film a singular, fun experience.

Of course I’m watching it on a 35mm print on a Thursday night, because I’m uncool!
