Unfortunately I took an immediate dislike to Taylor Kitsch. Just doesn’t stand out on screen. The 2 hour nap I paused for in the middle wasn’t so bad though. Kinda indistinguishable from watching the actual movie.

Everyone is just so utterly mesmerising. Even Amy Adams peevish voice is perfect. Even the kids do great. I questioned the Dutch angles especially when suddenly appearing in a scene but the bench scene between Sister James and Father Flynn convinced me. Competing Dutch angles, from below?? Who does that? Someone who wants you to be throw off balance and unsure who's has the real power. Before suddenly flattening it all back out and bringing the characters together into one…
