Letter Never Sent 1960
Kalatozov and Urusevsky truly ran so Tarkovsky could fly. Compare this, for example, to Stalker. My mouth was honestly agape at certain scenes and the emotional power of the cinematography. So much happens in this film that it feels longer than 96 minutes but, to truly reach epic potential, it should have run longer. Maybe another 30 minutes getting to know our heroes would have solidified our emotional attachment and strengthened some of the devices as decisive elements.
