There were a couple of really esthetically pleasing shots, which I always love. The music was also very interesting, and the heavy breathing of cardinal Lawrence (which btw reminded me of Tony Soprano’s) seemed to reflect the internal struggles and heavy weight of the responsibilities he carried. Although it wasn’t at all boring and there was definitely a palpable tension, this movie unfortunately failed to really surprise or intellectually tickle me whilst the plot unfolded, except for the very end of course, but I wish there would have been more mystery throughout. Nevertheless, great watch.

I get why this is a classic, and it has that nice slower pace that older movies tend to have, which I can really appreciate. I also find it very interesting how it manages for me to be able to sympathize with almost all characters, whether good or bad. An elevated cat and mouse game, where there are quite a lot of similarities between cat and mouse.

Can’t give this anything else but 5 stars for mi isla bunita ❤️ I felt so damn nostalgic for beautiful Curaçao. Beautiful shots and scenery and strong performances. The complicated family relationships were so moving it made me quite emotional. Love how the history of Curaçao and it’s people was intertwined with the idea of the spirit of life. Hopi orguyoso mi tin!!!

The grayscale with sometimes a colored shot was a cool idea and the cinematography was good, so definitely enjoyed that. However the rest of the movie didn’t really touch me and I found myself not able to fully submit to the story. Though the performances were very good  and deserve credit.
