this was such a beautiful film navigating mother-daughter relationships and self-identity. the lead actresses give compelling performances so you can relate to how torn astrid is between the love she has for her mother, whom she initially idolizes, and the gradual realization that she can never fully develop her sense of self without distancing herself from her influence. the discovery that your parent isn't perfect but actually a human being with flaws...it's depicted in the best way.
