Probably my favourite film of all time at this stage. Watched it seven times - there’s not many movies I’ve watched even twice. There’s so much here to unpack and to discover on repeat viewings, so much to think about and reflect on.

The Irishman 2019
I don't want to repeat the many praises sung elsewhere for this movie; I agree with many of them. I wanted to add though that one of the reasons I don't take this to be a flawless movie is that because the movie doesn't give us an adequate or intimate understanding of the families of the 'protagonists', the conclusion doesn't hit quite as hard as it was probably supposed to.

I thought this was absolutely superb. I really don't think a follow-up to Blade Runner could have been any better than 2049, it's a genuinely incredible artistic achievement; profound, beautiful, and tragic on so many levels. Kubo and the Two Strings 2016
A stunningly beautiful, incredibly moving hero story. Steeped in the rich culture and storytelling tradition of Japan, and with some of the most gorgeous stop-motion animation ever created, Kubo and the Two Strings absolutely delights visually. And while the pacing can be uneven, sometimes rushing towards plot points that haven't been entirely earned, it's one of the most touching films this year. The very opening scene almost reduced me to tears, and the rest moved me from laughter to near-tears…
