The Substance 2024
When the film began, I had such high hopes. The cinematography, mise-en-scène, and sound design were top-notch—truly captivating. But as it went on, I started feeling nauseous every ten minutes (not exactly the vibe I was hoping for).
On top of that, for a film that seemed like it wanted to tackle the pressures women face in today’s society—never being good enough, constantly objectified—it didn’t really dig into those themes. Instead, it just glossed over them with a gratuitous amount of...ass.
