  The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim 2024

  This was the best I could’ve hoped for in a new Lord of the Rings project. The story is self contained and lower stakes but focuses more on engaging character driven conflict. The music is inspired by Howard shore’s work but doesn’t feel too derivative.

  While the animation was gorgeous at times, it came off as uncanny and a bit jarring in others. Not sure if it was over processed or not.

  The story is fun and whimsical and I felt like it was a twist on Hamlet which was fitting for the Scottish influence in Rohan’s designs.

  I barely cared enough about the characters to have stake in the story. They string you along with a fun mystery but their hands are shown too early and the message is weak. It’s like if Saw was food and could've been half as long.

  Cartoonishly evil businessmen commit man-made horrors beyond comprehension. Besides the body horror, the technocratic police state they warn about isn’t far from reality now, but maybe it was more shocking at the time.
