Wasn’t expecting to love this as much as I did.

This is a extremely raw film. No overacting or convoluted plot, it’s a film about real emotions, told through all the dialogue & nuances of Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin. They’re two distant family members, whose ‘once upon a time’ past radiates every scene with one another, that are on a heartaching journey touring Poland’s holocaust past. The story that slowly gets unraveled as the cousins go through their journey is…

    Saw II

    ★★

This film’s attempt to avoid complacency ultimately becomes its downfall, as it bears a script that is nearly unrecognizable to its predecessor. What made the first film so special was the intimacy of these two characters finding their way out, but also the overall mystery as a whole. A weird film in which I don’t feel it was that good, but I was pretty entertained throughout; only to be disappointed by a rather strange ending.

I do find it weird that Anya Taylor-Joy keeps doing these weird mystery & mythical B-films, when she seems rather capable to take a leap in doing regular dramas that could win awards. It feels like she & her team don’t really care about the script of the project that she’s doing, because this is…

    Sorry to Bother You

    ★★

Sorry To Bother You felt like a group of people had a great opening plot for a movie, but as they kept writing the script, they ran out of ideas and ruined it. I had high expectations for this film and I was ultimately disappointed. The film’s plot loses all sense by the time it is finished. What saves the film overall are the comedic scenes, awkward situations, and the many undertones of battling a capitalist society throughout. However, once they start to introduce man-horses, using poor CGI, it makes me wonder who truly thought this plot was a good idea.
