The gore and psychological horror are escalated a fair amount from the first one here; there are some wonderfully gnarly scenes beyond what I expected. It feels much more mean-spirited and isolating overall, letting the horror of trauma marinate. This film acts like it's saying something about fascism and Pinochet's reign over Chile, but it's all a cover for what is a sexualized and wholly misogynistic exploitation flick. It's a slimy excuse that clearly works since people defend the content due to being "rooted in history". I'm a fan of exploitation/extreme horror and think it has a place in film, but this is a poor addition to the genre that just feels like a violent sexual fantasy. It doesn't…
