The Last Showgirl 2024
Says something painfully accurate about the reality of being a working woman, who follows her passion and pays the price for it (while the men around her escape such consequences).
Beautifully shot and scored, so moving, and earnest, it felt like a documentary. The death of glamour, the degradation and pornification of women being normalised and advancing rapidly through the generations, the rise and fall of beauty as a currency, how following your dream can turn out to be a nightmare. I think a lot of that depth went over peoples heads, but I’m just being bitter about the poor reviews.Translated from by

Asteroid City 2023
It doesn’t make sense narratively, and unfortunately that takes away from my overall experience. It’s funny in places and campy but I just wish all of it was the play. I want to invest, to empathise, to follow the wave of story. But it’s just choppy, overly complex, and flat. And the 3 witches needed far more screen time.
