This film has furthered my interest in the use of climate in cinema, especially the restlessness and sensuality of summer heat. Such a great setting to portray longing and casual living—I think this and Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing really beautifully capture what it’s like to be restless and sweat profusely in the dead of summer. I’m looking forward to revisiting both of these once the summer hits.
