While watching this movie this afternoon—I was alone in the house—a tea towel fell off the heater onto the floor. That ended up scaring me more than the film itself.
While predictable (you just know that Deborah Kerrs character is going to stand up to her horrible mother eventually - who probably is horrible for a reason, but which is not explored), and maybe even something of a soap, I absolutely loved this. David Niven and Deborah Kerrs acting was wonderful and there was nothing more I wanted than a shimmer of hope that they would confess their love to another one day. Also loved the storyline of Rita Hayworth…
Somewhat entertaining, but scary as well. We're doomed, that's for sure. Does not give answers (how could it?), but I feel it is important that as many people as possible see this to create awareness on how dangerous plastic really is.
I am feverish and have the flu, and decided to watch this despite feeling ill. What a gem this movie is. Kôji Yakusho understood the character so well and it was so beautifully shot. The pacing and music is absolutely perfect, in fact, while almost all of the songs used in this movie can be categorized as classics, I believe this movie enhances them instead of the other way around.
