Incredibly intense and scary thanks to excellent performances from Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood. Carl Struycken is great as well, but I think that might be cheating as his very presence in the shadows gets me cower in fear. Tackles complicated subjects very well without issue.

The ending stretches a bit and isn't quite as satisfying as what came before.

Justice League, directed by Zack Snyder (or Joss Whedon, I don't even know anymore) is a major step away from the initial installments in the DC Cinematic universe Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, and another step in the direction of the more recent Wonder Woman. While Mike Newell is not a director I am very well aware of, but this has me intrigued, wanting to explore more of his filmography. Following an undercover FBI agent in the mob, the story isn't exactly unique, but it is really all about the execution and characters. Donnie Brasco does this extremely well, conveying the story through interesting characters that keep the suspense from start to finish.

Seeing Johnny Depp in a role other than the Jack Sparrow-like character…
