There Will Be Blood 2007
Didn’t live up to the hype as an epic about the foundation of capitalist America for me. Was uninterested by Daniel’s character and don’t think he says anything very novel about “capitalism” (the idea that it’s a blunt force tool is not novel). After about half way through I felt I was just watching a guy doing a series of horrible things, which is really uninteresting when the film has already told me clear as day that he’s a horrible…

My Favourite Cake 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
The scene where he fixed her light and it came on in her garden as she set the table for dinner was so moving; they were helping to reproduce each other, to create something with another person, for the first time in so long.
I also enjoyed the inversion of the typical generational behaviour that we observe in western films. Here it was older people who were radical and rebellious.
I really was not ready or able for the ending tbh - I wish they could have left it a happy film.Translated from by -
