this was delightful and heartbreaking, and increasingly uncomfortable as the filmmakers insert themselves more and more aggressively into Jason's narrative, forcing him to shed layers of defensive humor until he's in tears over the pain in his life. and then he softens the blow of his pain again by saying "I'm happy about the whole thing."
and the editing choices are fascinating, i love that they shot 12 hours of footage, edited it down to 1.5, and kept so many of the film reel changes in.
