I had low expectations going into this but even through the continuity errors, mid CGI, and the occasional unnatural line delivery, this movie surprised me in a good way. The protagonist was skillful in her fear and thanks to her and the sound design, the tension was palpable. Not to mention that cute plot twist which added to the drama.

First off, end credit song was perfect.
Sigourney is masterful with the fear and desperation written on her face. She adds so much to every scene.
Sound design and lighting were genius and added to the tension tenfold, especially those running scenes.
Practical effects and deaths were very obviously from the 70’s but it’s no surprise how this became an instant classic of its time.
And screw Ash.

Artistic design and direction is genius. The musical numbers are some of the best in a musical movie adaptation. Lighting is just superb and the glow effect in every gorgeous cutaway makes every scene more alluring. Every actor was splendid. One of my favorite scenes is the hanging thanks to the use of two separate scenes, the other being her “final” performance. Richard Gere blows me away in the court room scenes. Choreography is top tier.
