Poor Things 2023
I loved Stone's acting. I loved the panto set design. I even loved Ruffalo's ludicrous accent.
I disliked a lot. The Scottish element was too significant for it to be set in London of all places. It felt subversive of the socialist politics that was so integral to Gray's work. I won't even comment on the supposed feminism, because there wasn't any. It's a voyeuristic rape fantasy.
I usually don't care about departing from source material. But this didn't feel like an artistic choice, it felt like an inability to grasp the themes of the book. A total betrayal.

The Fabelmans 2022
Movies are like dreamssssss, though this one's a little mawkish. I never thought I'd say it, but Seth Rogan wasn't the worst part of this film.
one star for Lynch as John Ford though.
