Was not the tone I was expecting, but the anachronistic angle was quite brilliant, if a little too on the nose sometimes, ‘making the message take precedence of the movie.
The movie waters down the message instead of the message filling out the movie.
Fun as fuck ride either way
This is a lesson on cinematography to all the up and coming or burgeoning directors who’ve fell in love with over dramatic shots and excessive use of color to simply dazzle the viewer.
Cinematography should fit within and help establish the foundation of a movie, not the aimless circlejerk of “look what I can do” that “cinema” seems to have devolved to.
This film is a great example of using cinematography to build the space and enhance the immersion of a film.
Aside from that, great story, great pacing, subtle and powerful message. No complaints at all.
