The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

A fun movie for both kids and adults that successfully modernizes the looney tunes formula without alienating the original audiences. For example, the art style is fun and fluid while still using the "painted background" style to great comedic affect. An easy crowd pleaser that further highlights the mismanagement of WB that led to this almost never seeing the light of day.

I think this is the rating? Odd movie in that for all the themes that hit, there's seemingly an equal amount of plot points that are forgotten or not fleshed out as much as expected. The acting was phenomenal with Pattinson of course being a standout, though Ruffalo also perfectly played a washed out, pampered politician with no original thoughts of his own. I'm curious how much footage was left on the cutting room floor that prevents this from getting a higher score. Regardless, this still stands out as a unique film for the year that I couldn't imagine many others directing.

There were way too many characters that felt shoehorned in for unknown future purposes (optimistically). Harrison Ford had way more story beats to play with, even when ignoring the big red problem he has. Ultimately, Falcon and the Winter Soldier felt like a better sequel to the orignal Captain America trilogy while this take felt half baked.

This felt like an alternate version of 'Here,' staying in one location and getting to know a family through tidbits of conversation from the 3rd person perspective. Short and sweet, the premise felt fresh and unique, however the script felt like it was nervous to fully expand upon some of the ideas and themes about the family by awkwardly stopping conversations before they can be fleshed out. On that merit, it felt like a sizeable chunk of this movie was…
