Really conflicted by this, the first half of the movie is a masterpiece, the second half attempts to deconstruct the American Dream that the first half spends building up. The second half focuses too much on the protagonist’s derailment and becomes a little bit Zionist propagandist in part.
Overall - it’s amazingly well shot on 35mm film and some of the topics it explores are very well done.
It also makes me want to light a cigarette even though I’ve never smoked before in my life.
