In what appears to be a thinly veiled tale on the dangers of AI filtered through Netflix’s dumbed down formula, THE ELECTRIC STATE tries and quickly fails to be an Amblin knockoff. It’s an expensive misfire that mistakes nostalgia for substance. There’s just no nuance - every scene filled with characters restating the obvious.
