    Back in 2021, I made a New Years resolution of sorts to finally start openly writing and as my inaugural review I chose the film that had spurred my desire to start tackling this practice.

    That film was PARASITE. A film which I thought had extreme relevance to the South Korean social dialectic but wasn't entirely relevant to the American scene.

    Three things happened when I went to watch this film.

    1. I watched the first five seconds of the trailer and was sold.

    2. I became aggravatingly disappointed within the first five minutes thinking I had made the wrong choice for the days documentary.

    3. I stuck around long enough to entirely vindicate what I thought this documentary just might be.

    Is Godard the braver filmmaker? Probably!

    But is Truffaut the better filmmaker? Yes!

    But was Truffaut correct that it is boring and trite? Yes!

    Was Godard the brains that turned the machine on its head? Most likely!

    But did he lack the originality, talent, and heart of Traffaut? Certainly!
