  As someone who grew up so far and opposite of what Chinatown is, I can safely say that this film has helped me appreciate what Chinatown used to be. Not being able to relate to the whole memory of what Chinatown was to the filmmaker, but being able to appreciate what the film meant for him, sentimentality, and the fight to retain memories makes the film beautiful and easy to sympathize with.
  I appreciate the call for preserving historical structures…

  I really tried to give this film a chance hearing it from a bunch of family members who spoke highly about it. It just didn't hit right. The jokes didn't land, the archetypes aren't as fleshed out enough for us to care.
  At the end of the day, this film didn't know what it wanted it to be.

  One star for Kate Alejandrino cause she tried to carry this film for what she was given.
