my second nakashima movie and similar to his other works this is a hyper edited stylised trip
unlike his other works i’ve seen tho instead of using this editing for humour in this case it’s used for the opposite reason of creating an overwhelming sense of dread

pretty much every character in this i’d like an awful person but the manic story beats and fast pace keeps you rooting and gripped even if appalling things are happening

koji yakasho is awesome as like the worst person ever as well as nana komatsu

as a huge bong joon ho fan it pains me to say i really don’t care this much at all
maybe i had to high expectations idk but it’s hard not to when he’s made some of the best movies of all time

i found robert pattison was having alot of fun with the role ( even if the voice seemed to be a pretty confusing choice and didn’t work for me at all )
    everyone else was good but…

soulless ugly and more than anything so tedious to get through
every scene in this movie could have been cut by like 40%
for a musical near enough all the songs fall flat minus one or so
and for this being marketed about younger audiences connecting to the story and characters
it’s the most surface level “be kind “ message
i can’t comprehend why people are saying this is anything more than a disney live action remake type movie

HOLY FUCK EGGERS IS SO BACK !

everything about this rules so hard the lighting , the acting specifically from lily rose deep who goes bat shit and the way she moves her body in such crazy ways !
i love how this builds off everything the original does and just makes it better by contextualising a lot of the plot points and also builds on alot more
i thought the count himself was menacing and completely found myself hooked everytime he’s on screen
it’s also a pretty great metaphor for abuse in there as well
