Jim Carrey’s whole thing was being wild and unhinged, but I feel like this was a first step to put that wildness into an otherwise normal setting and character. I love the exploration of war, trauma, and survivor’s guilt. Godzilla has represented a lot of things over the years and it fits to represent all of this as well. Incredibly well done.
I also love that the plan is all citizen-led. Speaks to the enduring power of community and country after war and trauma.
