Un Chien Andalou was (pardon the joke) eye-opening, but L’Age D’Or shows that sometimes more is less. More sophomoric than surrealistic.

It All Came True 1940
An absurdly contrived idea simply to get a big musical production at the end. Bogie is barely Bogie, but at least there’s Ann Sheridan.

Rose Hobart 1936
The best thing about this experimental film is that it made Salvador Dali flip out. As a labor of love, it’s impressive; as a surrealist work, it’s not.
