godard being ahead of his time is a gross understatement, maybe watching this with the criterion commentary made it that much more special—but i loved it and will always appreciate it
means so much more than a film “lacking substance overpowered by stylistic choices” and maybe that was exactly the intent,
to over-saturate it by
under-saturating it
not for the genius of its storyline or choices, but what this movie meant at the time, and for the french new wave. how a story should be conducted, (maybe not executed tho)
