Twisters 2024
Films like Twisters are made for the cinema. Ideally the biggest fuck off screen in town. When you and 100 or so people watch together on a giant screen, the spectacle and special effects sweep you away.
At home and on a more modest screen the effect is different. You notice that the romantic and weather disasters that unfold during the two hour run time are not all that alarming. Without the emotions of a shared experience the film is but a mild breeze.

Movies this old are always going boring. Even if they're about WW2. And honestly I was bored a good half the time. But you can tell it must have been thrilling for the audience. Made in the middle of an active war, with scenes of an invading enemy pilot looking for refuge and an air-struck plane bursting into flames, there are moments that are still spectacular today.
